Day 1 – St. John PDP to Orisson Refuge

7km and about 700ft elev in last 3km.   Tomorrow will be harder, then it evens out for a while.   I didn’t overtrain for this.

Orisson exists as a single hostel/bar for the more deliberate pilgrims that didn’t rush on to the next stop in Roncenvalles, another 8km and 1000m of altitude.

This is Basque Country and the voices are loud, raucous, friendly.

Looking forward to a communal dinner and 8 solid hours of sleep before setting out again.
