Day 23 – Leon
Hung out with Gaudi, famous 19th century Spanish architect and possibly the most common selfie subject in Leon.
I spent an hour walking around the outside of the Cathedral and never went inside. Parts of the exterior walls have been under regular reconstruction due to the original decision to allow a lot of light in via stained glass windows.
Alas, one cannot completely escape American culture. I wonder what kind of impression this makes on Spaniards that have never been to America.
I met a young Slovenian who has been riding his bike around Europe and just added the Camino to his trip as an afterthought. He can do 250km on a good day. He is on a personal journey to find out how he will/can respond to challenges and uncertainty. We shared this common belief best said in this unattributed quote “worrying is like praying for something you don’t want.” (Source?)
The flood of impressions continue.
Buen Camino,
