Day 42 – Santiago de Compostela (Again)
Generally, I focus on the antiquity of Spain. The reality is that the Spanish sense of style and design is just as progressive as any other culture.
The above modernistic glass/metal structure is actually a cafe in a park near the cathedral in Santiago.
The above arched structure is a cafe on a busy street in Santiago.
With a minimal purchase they will stamp your pilgrims credential.
In every city, town, and village I’ve visited in Spain, all of the streets, not just the main tourist paths, are impeccably free of dirt and litter. Part of the reason why is this army of public servants out at the crack of dawn sweeping streets and emptying trash bins.
Tomorrow I fly to Bilbao for a few days to get another take on modern Spain at the Guggenheim museum.
Buen Camino,
