Day 5 – Villava (still)
Today was a trial run on tomorrow’s assault on Pamplona and beyond. I need a SIM card for Spain and they sell them in Pamplona, just not on Sunday. Sunday is a good day to sightsee and map out the telecom stores though.

Language is a funny thing. Everything I say now is a barrage of English mixed with a little bit of Spanish and a lot of gestures. My fellow travelers and Spanish hosts do their best to respond in fractured English (albeit some much better than fractured).
When I come across someone from Michigan or St. Louis or even Australia, it’s a relief to be able to communicate easily.
This is not something that I am particularly proud of. I had to ask a women from Switzerland to help me retrieve my backpack from storage because I couldn’t speak enough Spanish to get my question across.
I’m learning through immersion. Maybe by the time I get to Santiago de Compestella, I will have made some progress.
